Our Cleaning, Late Check-Out  & Breakages Policy

We work very hard to ensure all our rooms and facilities meet the fussiest of guests. This is easily noted in our reviews as we continue to score very highly on all cleaning reviews. Obviously occasionally some things slip through the system and please point these out as we will ensure progress and improvement will continue at Southern Anchorage. Obviously some things are outside our control- over summer when we are experiencing little rain, and there is a shortage of water then sometimes the windows may go a little while between cleans- Australia is a dry continent and water restrictions do apply! We also find that sometimes a room may get dusty in just a few days as the summer winds can move dust easily into our rooms from farmland surrounding us.
We do have cleaning expectations of our guests. Our cleaners have a schedule to adhere to, to ensure that cottages and suites are ready by the allotted time. If guests leave the room in a very untidy manner then an extra cleaning charge may apply to cover the extra cleaning costs associated with getting that room up to our own and our guest's expectations. This extra charge will be linked to the cleaner's extra time spent cleaning.
In our first two years of operation we have only charged this extra cleaning charge twice- as most guests respect and ensure our environment is left clean and tidy.

In regard breakages (broken lamps, toilet seats, etc) and extra cleaning costs (e.g.,dry cleaning of doonas, washing down of walls, etc), most time we will try to cover the costs of the breakage and cleaning, but if caused through misuse or abuse and if guest does not communicate honestly then a charge may be applied to cover cost of replacement or cleaning. Quite often most breakages are covered just in our day to day costs, but obviously guests have a responsibility to respect our fantastic retreat.
